Bernard Villers Portrait
Bernard Villers (born 1939) lives and works in Brussels. He trained in monumental painting at the École nationale supérieure des Arts visuels de La Cambre under the guidance of Paul Delvaux and Jo Delahaut. Through an atypical and highly personal visual language, and guided by a strong commitment to artistic autonomy and free thought, Villers quickly emerged as a significant figure in the Belgian art scene. His work demonstrates a profound sensitivity to materiality, engaging with questions of space, color, and light, and draws on influences from conceptual art, minimalism, and Arte Povera.
