Susanne Wellm Portrait
Artist Susanne Wellm works primarily with photography, exploring both analogue and digital techniques—often merging them—to investigate the material and physical qualities of the image. Recently, she has developed a hybrid method that combines photography and weaving, creating tactile, layered works rich in color, contrast, and depth. Central to her practice is an ongoing exploration of time, memory, and narrative, drawing from an extensive archive of found images, historical film stills, and her own photographs. Through collage and montage, Wellm weaves together personal and collective histories, transforming familiar fragments of reality into poetic, multi-layered pictorial spaces where fiction and fact, stillness and movement, converge in evocative, open-ended moments.
